The discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb sparked public interest in Egyptian culture, but this fire had to be kept alive. Capart therefore offered to inform members of new discoveries and recent publications, both for the scientific community and the general public.

However, the Chronique d’Égypte quickly acquired a great scientific reputation and became one of the most important Egyptology journals. Partly thanks to the collaboration of Egyptologists and papyrologists, and later Arabists, the Chronique d’Égypte became not only one of the most important Egyptology journals, but also one of the few journals covering the entire history of Egypt, from prehistory to the Pharaonic period, from the Coptic period to the Arab period.

The journal Chronique d’Égypte is published with the support of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, the University Foundation and the Fund for Scientific Research (F.R.S.-FNRS). It has around 350 pages per year.
