Journey to Egypt 2026

A wonderful collaboration with the Club de l’Histoire allows us to offer you the opportunity to discover the extraordinary new Grand Egyptian Museum, along with an immersion into 5,000 years of Cairo’s history, from Antiquity to the Ottoman period.

The visits will be guided by Dr Manal Mourad, a French-speaking Egyptian Egyptologist renowned for her expertise, and we will also have the privilege of being accompanied by a Belgian Egyptologist, who will share with us the latest discoveries and insights into the contribution of Belgian Egyptologists to the understanding of Egyptian civilization.

Monday 16 November / 7 December 2026

  • 12:30 Meeting at Zaventem Airport. Flight EGYPTAIR MS726 at 14:35
  • 19:50 Arrival at Cairo International Airport
  • Transfer to the quiet and green district of Maadi and our hotel Holiday Inn Cairo Maadi*****
  • Check-in and welcome dinner

Tuesday 17 November / 8 December 2026

  • Lecture at the hotel: introduction to the upcoming visits
  • Transfer to the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), 2 km from Giza
  • First guided tour of the museum’s treasures
  • Lunch in one of the museum restaurants overlooking the pyramids
  • Return to the hotel – free evening and dinner

Wednesday 18 November / 9 December 2026

  • Transfer to Memphis (approx. 60 min.)
  • Visit of the Saqqara necropolis, the Pyramid of Djoser and the Mastaba of Mereruka
  • Lunch
  • Transfer to the Dahshur necropolis (approx. 45 min.)
  • Guided visit including the Red Pyramid and the Bent Pyramid
  • Return to Cairo and dinner before heading back to the hotel

Thursday 19 November / 10 December 2026

  • Transfer to the Giza plateau (approx. 45 min.)
  • Visit of the necropolis including the Pyramids of Khufu, Khafre, Menkaure and the Sphinx
  • Lunch
  • Transfer to Cairo
  • Visit of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC)
  • Return to the hotel – free evening and dinner

Friday 20 November / 11 December 2026

  • Transfer to Cairo
  • Visit of the Citadel of Saladin on Mokattam Hill
  • Lunch nearby
  • Traditional felucca boat ride
  • Return to the hotel – free evening and dinner

Saturday 21 November / 12 December 2026

  • Transfer to “Old Cairo”
  • Visit of Coptic Cairo, its churches and the Coptic Museum
  • Lunch
  • Visit of Islamic Cairo, including El Moez Street and Khan el-Khalili bazaar
  • Return to the hotel – farewell dinner

Sunday 22 November / 13 December 2026

  • Breakfast buffet and check-out
  • 07:30 Departure to the airport
  • 08:30 Check-in for flight MS725 at 10:30
  • 14:20 Arrival at Brussels Airport
